About the Role:
Onum, now part of CrowdStrike, is a data optimization and analytics company originally based in Madrid. As a CrowdStrike company, Onum continues to specialize in real-time data analysis to enable rapid decision-making regarding cybersecurity, network performance, and infrastructure management. Through CrowdStrike's expanded capabilities, Onum helps organizations optimize their data analytics costs by reducing data volumes, avoiding vendor lock-in, and aligning the value of each dataset with actionable security insights.
The Senior Manager of Engineering will lead and manage engineering teams, oversee project execution, and collaborate closely with other departments to deliver high-quality products on time. The role requires a balance of technical expertise and people management, ensuring the engineering organization operates efficiently while fostering innovation and growth.
What You'll Do:
Team Leadership: Lead and manage engineering teams, providing technical direction, mentorship, and professional development opportunities.
Project Management: Oversee the planning, execution, and successful delivery of engineering projects. Ensure that projects meet technical, budget, and time constraints.
Cross-Department Collaboration: Work closely with product management, design, QA, and other departments to ensure alignment on project goals, timelines, and deliverables.
Technical Oversight: Ensure that the engineering teams follow best practices in software architecture, design, coding, testing, and deployment. Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and technical problem-solving when necessary.
Process Improvement: Continuously refine development processes to improve team efficiency, product quality, and delivery speed. Implement Agile methodologies, CI/CD pipelines, and other best practices.
Resource Allocation: Manage engineering resources, balancing workloads, timelines, and priorities across multiple projects to ensure optimal utilization.
Risk Management: Identify potential technical risks and implement strategies to mitigate them. Oversee technical debt management and ensure the stability, scalability, and security of software systems.
What You'll Need:
Proven Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of software engineering principles, including architecture, coding, testing, and deployment. Proficiency in one or more programming languages (e.g., Golang -preferred-, Java, Python, C++, JavaScript).
Team Leadership: Experience managing and growing engineering teams, with a track record of mentoring and developing talent.
Project Management: Extensive experience in managing large-scale, complex projects. Knowledge of project management tools and methodologies (Agile, Scrum, Kanban).
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills. Ability to identify and solve complex technical and operational challenges.
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to senior leadership and business stakeholders.
7+ years of software engineering experience with at least 1-2 years in a management or leadership role.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
Experience with cloud infrastructure, microservices, DevOps practices, and modern software development frameworks.
Proven ability to manage distributed teams and remote work environments.
Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and managing engineering headcount and resources.
Familiarity with cybersecurity best practices, software performance optimization, and scalable architectures.
