Altenar is interested in recruiting the services of a Business Intelligence Analyst to work closely with various Product and Business stakeholders as well as with Technology teams to focus on using various analytical techniques to answer interesting business questions. The role requires outstanding communication skills, proven ability to contextualize complex problems, identify data requirements, and develop solutions backed by strong documentation. The candidate will be working in the Data Science and Business Intelligence Team.

The successful applicant should illustrate comfort working in a startup environment, possessing high intellectual curiosity with ability to quickly learn new concepts/frameworks, algorithms and technology that powers Altenar business objectives. We seek someone with a high degree of ownership that can consistently deliver superior quality results on-time. The successful candidate is expected to contribute to Altenar’s data strategy by diving deep into data warehouse architecture, exploring opportunities for gaining insight and extracting value from our data, and finally contributing actively to the dashboarding and reporting needs within the company.

Job Description

The activities of a Business Intelligence Analyst include but are not limited to:

  • Continuously updating core knowledge and skills in SQL and Python or R as applied to mathematical analysis
  • Working with the Solution Architect and Business Analysts, and directly with key Product and Business owners on topics for exploration and their description
  • Gaining an in-depth understanding of Altenar data-warehousing and helping to unlock the value of the data,
  • Working with Data Engineers, Infrastructure Engineers and Data Services Engineers on data collection, movement and storage strategies
  • Building analytical applications in a structured manner that can be tested and deployed
  • Performing various types of analytics including descriptive, diagnostic, predictive or prescriptive analytics.
  • Delivering views, dashboards and report configurations using BI tools as required by internal stakeholders
  • Participation in the research, test, design of new data services tools for online or warehoused data
  • Work in a fast-paced, dynamic, multinational, multicultural environment
  • Creating and maintaining documentation for the solutions provided

Qualifications

  • Experience working with Python and its analysis packages
  • Strong SQL querying skills
  • Knowledge of analytical and forecasting skills using spreadsheets and notebooks
  • Strong math and statistics background (relevant Degree education required)
  • Proven experience with BI tools (Metabase, Superset, PowerBI, Tableau, etc)
  • Ability to quickly write ad-hoc SQL scripts to analyze small to medium datasets.
  • Strong research and validation skills
  • Motivated and self-driven to work in an environment with minimal supervision
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Proficient in spoken and written English

Nice to have:

  • Experience with Spark core functionality such as Spark SQL, Spark Structured Streaming is very desirable
  • Some experience in using Git version control in the context of documentation/source code management
  • Knowledge of NoSQL and ELT pipelines considered a plus
  • Graduate-level education in CS, Engineering, Math, Statistics, Economics or other relevant field
