Burness Paull is a top tier commercial law firm supporting clients across Scotland, the UK and internationally. Two things make us tick: delivering results and being easy to deal with. From tech to private equity our clients are among the most exciting UK and international corporates, but we never assume any entitlement to the next deal. That means clients get the very best legal advice delivered by people with their feet firmly on the ground. If you think all lawyers are cut from the same pin-striped cloth, you haven’t worked with Burness Paull.
Valla is on a mission to make legal support affordable for everyone. Our revolutionary new product helps people to take their employer to tribunal — even if they cannot afford a lawyer. Valla was founded by two senior women from the tech industry who were tired of seeing marginalised people being treated unfairly by their employers and not being able to afford justice.
Tackling decarbonisation and the transition to net zero means radically transforming the vast network of energy infrastructure which makes the modern world go. To meet this unprecedented challenge, we need to build considerably more infrastructure at an unprecedented pace. The planning of new linear infrastructure projects is often lengthy and requires taking into account a multitude of technical considerations and reconciling the often competing viewpoints of various stakeholders. At Continuum Industries, we aim to accelerate the world’s transition to renewable energy by enabling faster, lower-risk and more environmentally conscious project development for power, utility and renewables companies. Our solution, Optioneer™, leverages geospatial data combined with design and planning rules and tests millions of potential routing alternatives against project-specific environmental, social, cost and technical considerations. Our AI-powered platform generates a shortlist of tailored options, in just a few hours. Using Optioneer’s user-friendly interface, the project team is able to compare and evaluate the shortlisted routes against key performance indicators, iterate when new data arises and keep a record of key decisions made during the process. Optioneer drives efficiencies across every project, streamlining collaboration and facilitating more dynamic engagement with stakeholders. It's time to make infrastructure projects work smarter, not harder

BIOCAPTIVA is developing the BioCaptis, a revolutionary medical device which has the potential to transform liquid biopsy testing for cancer management, by improving early diagnosis and monitoring of disease and enhancing clinical trial data of cancer patients. The BioCaptis captures up to 100x more cell free DNA (cfDNA) than a venous blood draw, yielding cfDNA in high quality and quantity for testing, addressing the major challenge of liquid biopsy in cancer management. This will potentially allow the testing of a far greater number of cancer types and stages in a much wider range of patients. BIOCAPTIVA was founded in 2021 when it spun out from the University of Edinburgh. schuh is a shoe shop. That much you probably already knew. You probably didn't know that we were born in Edinburgh in 1981 with a simple philosophy: "To provide individual high fashion footwear, sold in a unique and exciting retail environment" Since then, that simple philosophy is still holding true, only we now have over 100 stores across the UK and Ireland, a highly successful website as well as a glittering trophy cabinet that tells us that we're pretty good at selling shoes. The secret behind this success is closely guarded, but it comes from having nice people, hardwork and dedication.
Skyrora is a UK launch vehicle provider aiming to provide flexible sovereign launch capabilities to the UK through the development of an orbital vehicle and carefully selected supply chain innovations that we believe will reinforce the industry for years to come. Skyrora’s strategy is to take an incremental ‘step-by-step’ approach to launch to allow for critical testing and de-risking. We utilise proven technology in combination with advanced additive manufacturing methods, taking significant inspiration from previous UK space heritage, sharing the same propellant combination as Black Arrow and utilising learnings from Skylark for our suborbital test programme. As part of this approach, we have developed four suborbital rockets in order to perform real-time testing of the avionics, ground control systems, payload deployment and recovery systems of the vehicles in parallel with the development of our orbital rocket. Skyrora’s four suborbital rockets ascend from Skylark Nano, through to Skylark Micro, SkyHy and finally to Skylark-L. Most recently, Skyrora attempted to launch Skylark L in October 2022 from Iceland. Our orbital vehicle, Skyrora XL consists of 3 stages with a re-ignitable maneuverable third stage allowing for the specific placement of satellites in orbit. Skyrora XL will be able to carry 315kg of weight up to 500km high.
